Welcome to the New York Times World View podcast a weekly conversation with Times foreign correspondents from across the globe. I’m Greg Winter a foreign editor at The Times. This week I speak with Jeffrey Gettleman a Times East Africa correspondent about Ethiopia its military and the complicated relationship America has with them. The Bush administration has joined forces with Ethiopia to rid the volatile Horn of Africa of what they both consider a militant threatening form of Islam. Just last winter they teamed up to oust an Islamist movement in Somalia saying it posed a terrorist danger.

?Although both internet penetration and online ad spends inIndia are miniscule ? around 1% ? the growth rate (100%) isimpressive and therefore marketers will have to take the tech route as thismedium evolves? says Anamika Mehta of LodestarUniversal. It?s not only blogs and audio downloads even videosare fast becoming a core in all online communications says the LodestarUniversal study. Around 25% of Indians had both downloaded an audio podcast anda video podcast in the last six months. Just as with creating blogs interest increating multimedia content is also being driven by the younger segmentstypically 16-24-year-olds. However there is a male-female bias withmales preferring to create radio shows music and videos while females likely toupload photos. Ahead of the global average of 41% India had a whopping 45%population who had uploaded pictures online in the last sixmonths.
