Podcaster deo Acquires Blog Search Engine Blogdigger; Plans Broader…

Deal terms were not announced. Blogdigger was an early player in blog search which hasn’t made a lot of noise lately though is reportedly profitable. The acquisition is intended to help relaunch deo as a platform of audio video and text moving it beyond its core podcasting business. That relaunch is expected in April says ReadWriteWeb.

“The eighth-grade class has done a series of podcasts” she said. “My goal is to have them put up online for some elementary school classes. ” Carbonneau said she got the idea for the podcast project after hearing a speaker who encouraged teachers to incorporate the latest technology into their classrooms. “We ask the students to power down when they come to school” she said referring to school rules that ban the use of cell phones and Mp3 players during school hours. Carbonneau said she started to think about electronics differently after hearing the speaker. “He said that we as teachers are digital immigrants while the students are digital natives” she said. Proof of this was evident on Sunday as the students demonstrated their prowess at virtual rock ‘n’ roll while parents looked on intrigued.

Senior Editor Brad Shoemaker's last day will be this Friday although during the podcast he gave no reason for his departure. Shoemaker has been with the site since 1999. There is no information on what he will be doing after his departure. If you take a look at how many GameSpot employees have left the site after the Gerstmann controversy it doesn't take long to see a pattern; it seems as if few personalities behind the site wish to stay after the shakeup following Gertmann's firing.
