A broken index; words that fail; what podcast?; and Flight of the…
San Francisco Chronicle – May 27, 2008
tmpl –>A broken index; words that fail; what podcast?; and Flight of the Conchords! In other words just plain randomness. So yes I’m aware I started – but did not finish – “Index Week on TBM!” (patent pending). It wasn’t the most thrilling idea I’ve ever had. Response was mixed. But I finish what I start (when it’s convenient) so I now give you No’s 4 and 5 then some other unconnected stuff:4: Reasons I didn’t finish “Index Week on TBM!”1) Got super busy.

South Africa: Woolies Joins World of Podcasts
AllAfrica.com – May 27, 2008
GA_googleFillSlot( “AllAfrica_Story_Inset” );Called Making Friends With Money the podcast is presented by financial behaviour change expert Dr Harry Dugmore and produced for Woolworths by radio producer and media specialist Jayne Morgan of Podcart a South African company that specialises in producing quality podcasts for corporates. The podcast provides valuable hints and tips for saving avoiding debt and better budgeting. Head of Woolworths Financial Services Sam Ngumeni says that in a time when people are feeling the pressure of rising interest rates and prices this is a chance to provide genuine added value. "We know that our customers are struggling to make ends meet. The Woolworths brand is about making ‘the difference’ and the new media space seemed a way of doing that. The podcast provides excellent advice in a way that is engaging and easy to access. "Making Friends With Money is free and consists of eight ten-minute episodes.

Sherwood Forest: On the Robin Hood trail
Telegraph.co.uk – May 27, 2008
Newark Castle was a surprise. It’s right on the edge of town a magnificent ruin on the banks of the Trent. King John’s death occurred here in 1216 and says the podcast “local stories suggest Robin’s men played their part in it”. Probably not (he had just lost the coronation regalia in the Wash and gorged himself on peaches and new cider not an ideal diet for someone who already has dysentery) but to enjoy this tour you must suspend belief. Newark Castle looks the part and the gatehouse in the 10ft-thick walls through which John would have arrived is satisfyingly rugged. Southwell Minster about 20 minutes’ drive from Newark is a building says the podcast that “Robin Hood would still recognise if he were to see it today”. It is a perfect Norman church the interior of which is throat-catchingly beautiful but perhaps the minster’s greatest treasures are the 13th-century foliage carvings in the chapter house… Through a metal gate are the stones from the original church tower said to mark the grave of Will Scarlett. By the time I finally reached Thieves’ Wood a couple of miles from Blidworth it was getting dark and the rubbish-strewn paths disappearing into the trees would have made me nervous enough even without reading the Robin Hood trail information board in the car park: “The roads through Sherwood Forest were dangerous places…” In the 12th and 13th centuries a third of England was designated “forest” and Sherwood stretched over a far larger area than it does now. The area covered by the Robin Hood podcast stretches north from Nottingham to Worksop and as far east as Newark so it could easily take a couple of days to do the whole trail. However if you cherry-pick a few locations (the Major Oak Edwinstowe Rufford King’s Clipstone are close together) you can manage it in a day. EssentialsThe Robin Hood trail is downloadable from.

The newest trend in cruising? iPods

There is no better traveling companion than an iPod and many travelers including me don?t leave home without it. Some cruise lines are turning to podcasts to give their guests and even non-guests information on various topics from ship tours to travel destinations. In the podcast format anyone with an iPod can download the information. Story continues below ?advertisement |.
