In terms of the actual awards the smart money appears to be on Danny Boyle’s Dickensian coming-of-age story Slumdog MIllionaire an at once heartbreaking and uplifting film set in Mumbai India. The dark horse for many of the top honors and seemingly the only film capable of challenging Slumdog for Best Picture is Milk Gus Van Sant’s biopic of San Francisco political activist Harvey Milk.
